I am a Pragmatist currently living in a world of AI hype. My journey began in 1998, after attending a Linux Mandrake workshop give by a coworker that sparked a lifelong belief in Open Source sovereignty. With the advent of AI agents, I am finally able to not only give back to the Open Source community but introduce others to the feeling of digital freedom!
In 2016, I realized my dream of running a Daylily Nursery for five years—learning the hard lessons of cultivation, soil health, and resilience. When the world shifted (COVID), I pivoted back to my academic roots, bringing that "nurseryman's patience" to the world of using AI as an efficient and effective tool for learning and productivity. And now that we have a growing community of open source and open weight AI models, the future of pragmatic AI looks bright!
